What's in a name?

According to my Apple dictionary, admittedly not a definitive source, a ‘consideration’ is a thought, reflection, meditation, concern, rumination etc. I would like this blog to do those things. I’m hoping I can keep the posts positive because, as someone once reminded me, it is important to practise the habits of mind that you value and want to foster. For me those are: positivity, curiosity, openness and self-reflection (hence, a blog is a good forum).

Also, I’m calling them 'small' because I would like to try to get into the habit of blogging briefly but often. That way I can reflect on everyday occurrences and make this form of writing and thinking a habit, hopefully.

Walks in the woods

I am grateful, this weekend, for the beautiful weather and the chance to go for a walk in the mountains outside the city. My husband and I drove up into the hills, leaving behind the bustle of the city and the mundane chores of being at home.

We wandered through two very different forests. One was native, with towering, ageless gums. It felt like being in a sort of natural cathedral – peaceful and renewing. The other was an arboretum with sections of dense evergreens making the light emerald and fragrant; then an area of birches with thin, silver trunks and rustling golden leaves; finally, a hill of large bushy trees and rowdy kookaburras. I write this so that I will remember, once we get into Winter, the last sunny long weekend in Autumn.
